Suomenlinna is a 250-year-old fortress and since 1991 has been included on UNESCO's World Heritage sites.
Suomenlinna, originally named "Sveaborg", is a naval fortress located off the coast of Helsinki and is comprised of 8 islands.
Buildings on the island date mainly from the end of 18th century, during Swedish rule, but also from the 19th century when Finland was under Russian rule. A dry dock built in the 18th century is still in use as a place for restoring old wooden sailing boats.
Suomenlinna is also a suburban area with 850 people living in the renovated ramparts and barracks.
Get a good historical outlook of the island by joining this guided tour and hear about the interesting history Finland being part of Sweden and Russia. The fortress of Suomenlinna had a major role in the wars against both Sweden and Russia. Helsinki's location is truly on the frontier between East and West.
After the walking tour you make a stop at the local island brewery where we will have a tasting of locally brewed beers. The brewery staff will pour up in glasses different local beer flavours. The flavours come from the island but also from several other places in Finland.

Only a 45 minutes' drive from Helsinki city center you find yourself in the country side and in the Nature Park of southern Finland in Nuuksio.
Your group will dive deep into Finnish nature with a professional guide who takes you on wider trails and unmarked forest paths. You'll learn more about the surrounding environment, Nuuksio's history and ever-changing cycle of nature. Are you familiar with the concept of "Freedom to Roam" yet? Along the way you'll see the best viewing points and a variety of different nature types. 1,5 hours (3-4km).
After the hike you will continue your experience a touch of northern magic at the Nuuksio reindeer park which is Finland’s southernmost place where you can see and feed reindeers. Our adorable reindeers live in Nuuksio all year round.
You can feed the reindeer, take pictures or just observe these unique animals. Refreshments will be served over an open fire in an atmospheric Lappish "kota" (tepee). The "kota" is furnished with rustic wooden tables and benches, just like in northern Finland in Lapland.
